HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009

As i am writing this new post, i can hear the sound of fireworks exploding sporadically in the nite sky as a way for some people to express their preference of ushering in the new year. Of course there are many, many ways to welcome the new year such as holding the traditional barbeque with family members, celebrating in a pub, hotel lounge or the karaoke for some or just a simple family gathering at home enjoying satay, coke and pizza etc..etc.. and watching the TV programmes while waiting for the stroke of midnite. Whatever it is, let's hope that there won't be any untoward incidents happening tonite, lest the revellers have one drink too many! So you guys out there, what's your New Year resolutions? As for me, i simply wish for good health, good fortune, good luck (kena toto 6/52 heh..heh..) and that the strong family values will always prevail in my family. Life Must Go On...and Happy New Year 2009!

its christmas time again

Christmas season is still around the corner and its time again to to visit our other christian friends. This time, i managed to visit a few friends and went as far as Kampung Skio near Bau to visit them. Christmas is not only to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but it is also a time of sharing and spreading goodwill among our friends . So after the christmas mass , i went to Kampung Skio eventhough it is outsisde Kuching. The distance does not really matter. As i have said, it is a time to visit your frens as i am sure that you won't have any other time to visit them all year round . So a feastive celebration is not only about drinking and eating, but more importantly it is about enhancing one's religious belief as well as an opportunity to enhance one's relationhips with our loved ones, relatives and friends alike especially those whom we seldom meet with. Last year, i went to Kampung Tebakang near Serian to pay a christmas visit to one of my son's friends. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2009 to all of you who know me.

cuti-cuti malaysia

talking about cuti-cuti malaysia, last October my family had an opportunity to spend a week holiday in KL including in Genting Highlands (GH) for 2 nites. i last visited GH some years ago but that was a day trip. so this time around in conjunction with my son's convo, we went to GH and stayed at the Theme Park Hotel. the journey by bus from KL central is about an hour to reach the cable car station. the cable car ride which lasted about 20 minutes to reach the top of GH was a good experience itself with the cool wind blowing and the mist around u, giving the impression that u r about to see KINGKONG! . But for those who are afraid of heights, dont be afraid, its a smooth ride. Along the way, watch out for the monkeys...who might be giggling at u! At genting, there are lots of things to c and do..(apart from the several casinos), u may shop till u drop, or eat until u r bloated..ha...ha... or u may watch movies and this one particular cineplex even has some massaging chairs for u to sit on while watching the movie . the snow world is also a good experience and the ASEAN village is also a good bargain to buy souvenirs. for children, they will surely make a hole in your pocket as there are 2 theme parks for them to amuse themselves. anyway that's what holidays are for spend..spend.. spend..! Actually, there are a lot of interesting places to see in our blessed country. As for KL, almost everybody knows what KL has to offer. So our next stop is probably the Cameron Highlands... c u there!

MV DOULOS IS IN TOWN

Last week, i received a phone call from Ms Ginny who is as a staff member of MV Doulos, dubbed the 'largest floating library in the world' to seek my assistance to help coordinate the publicity for the ship's arrival. Hearing the word MV Doulos, i myself was actually already excited as i could remember vividly when i first set foot on the big ship. And of course i was ever ready to help her to invite members of the media to do coverage on its official opening day to members of the public yesterday , although i couldnt make it myself. But i will surely come and visit the ship with my family members in tow. According to Ginny, it will be the ship's last call in Kuching as the ship is almost 100 years old and may no longer travel round the world. So u folks out there, do take the opportunity to visit this wonderful ship before Jan 2, 2009 and have a look at the more than 6,000 books available on board. i am sure there are some books that are of interest to u ...See u there! (sorry, photos unavailable)

Pasar Minggu Satok Kuching

Just mention Pasar Minggu (Sunday Market) at Satok Kuching, and almost everybody would know the place, including foreigners. This is the place where the famous ikan terubok masin is available and this is the place where i would frequent during the weekends if i m not busy and so are other hundreds of other people. This spot is also a tourist attraction. But what irks me about the place is the way the majority of the vendors who sell their kuih- muih (local cakes and other delicacies) that are not covered at all times. Apparently, the word 'hygiene' is far from their minds as i have noticed that years after years, the situation is still the same. It seems that the public who purchased them also do not mind at all, whether the food are covered or not, as by the end of the day, the vendors are laughing all the way to the banks! Just imagine the large crowd out there, some who might be coughing, sneezing, and the dust, the smoke and other unseen pollutant including the flies that settled on the kuih- muih that are waiting to be consumed by the buyers. Hopefully the authority will check on this problem including other places too, which i noticed are also practising the same style of selling their kuih muih.

it is three weeks away to the end of 2008 and its amazing how fast the time goes by and suddenly we are about to say hello to 2009. As usual, there will be lots of new year greetings (through the sms especially) and some friends would be asking about the new year resolution (year after year) and some planning where and how to usher in the new year.

As for me, i dont really have any particular new year resolution just that 'Life Must Go On'. But like anybody else, of course there are many things that i want to achieve, you want to achieve..and the list goes on...but generally, i do want to see a more peaceful world out there and hopefully, it will be... so what say you?
